Name: Florian J.
Team Applying To: New Jersey Devils
Favorite team: Vancouver Canucks
Preferred position: GM
E-Mail: fjonker@uvic.ca
Past experience in Sim leagues: Many years, appoximately up to 10 using SimonT sim, various NHL games, and some others. Ran a few SimonT leagues as well.
GM Style/Philosophy: Balanced lineup, built with youth though the lineup and controlling the salaries of players effectively. I often end up building a contender by watching teams over-spend and have to trade pieces next season for cap issues. Very friendly to negotiate with, but not a push over and I know whats best for my team. Last thing I'll do is ease off, I want the best deals and I want to build my team right.
Short-term plans for the team: Definite hole in the first line left wing spot, primary objective will be to fill that. Possibly using goaltending depth as bait.
Long-term plans for the team: With the starpower in place, I plan on modifying the depth and adding a top 6 left winger until the right mix is found!
You have a team consisting of nothing but basically one aging franchise player, but the team is in first place. You get offered a great package of prospects and picks for your aging, one "franchise" player. What do you do? Keep him until the end of the season. A cup run happens very rarely, only two teams a season make it to the finals and as the best team in the standings it isn't right to just give up on that season.
