The Nashville Predators finally got the star goalie they were looking for on December 22nd. GM Colton responded to the Luongo deal in the press conference and said " I really feel we are a cup team now" said GM Colton. GM Colton knew he had to fix the goalie situation in Nashville after the unacceptable start of the season and even though the goaltending was improving GM Colton could not rely on it.
After he decided he couldn't rely on his goaltending he went out and got one of the best goalies in the league in Roberto Luongo.I feel great playing here in Nashville ,i have a great bunch of guys in front of me" said Luongo.
Born in Montreal, Quebec. Luongo has been a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender in 2004,2007,and 2011. The Lester B. Pearson Award as the top player voted by his peers in 2004 and 2007 and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player in 2007. He won the William M. Jennings Trophy for lowest team goals-against average for the 2010-2011 season.
Roberto Luongo is one of the top goalies in the league and acquiring him was exactly that this team needed. "We knew we needed a good goalie and Roberto Luongo is that and then some" said GM Colton.
Roberto Luongo is one of the most entertaining players in the game today. He has incredible reflexes and has a knack for making spectacular saves. He is a fan favorite not only in Nashville but throughout the league. Roberto is a winner and don't be surprised if he becomes the reason the Preds become Stanley Cup Champions in the near future!
the 6'3 205 pound Quebec native is excited to play for the Predators and hopes to finish his career here " I always liked the city of Nashville and I cant wait to get out their and show the team and staff why they got me here"."I'm sure their was a few teams that would love to have luongo Luongo" said GM Colton, "that's why I made the offer before anyone else could offer a better one"
GM Colton is now looking to get a awesome Defense to play in front of the star netminder and thinks with his two most likely top 10 draft picks he has, it shouldn't be that hard.
One thing that is forsure is you will be hearing the "luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" chant for a long time here in the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
