Not surprisingly, many of these trades occurred way back in the beginning of the league, but what makes certain deals remarkable in an EHM sim league, is not simply the volume of the trade itself, but rather the return that you can sometimes on the return of the orginal deal. Not only is the magnitude of each of these trades extremely great, but the implications on future deals are just as great, if not greater.
This list is not in any way intended to be a judge of the winner or loser (although in some cases, not much needs to be said), but rather a compilation of the five deals that shook the DHL the hardest and shaped the league we have today the most.

In the first ground breaking deal in the DHL history, the league saw a massive three way shake up that still has implications on the league today. With Erik Johnson, the Flyers were able to pry the undisputed #1 defenseman out of Nashville in Shea Weber. Only giving up Sean Couturier, Brad Marchand and Brayden Coburn, the Flyers made away with the foundation for the direction Army planned to take his team in.
Coburn and Mueller were both later traded to the Washington Capitals where they both developed into major parts of their 2012 Stanley Cup performance.

While this trade doesnt send reverberations around the league like some of the others, the sheer magnitude of the exchange can not go without being noted. The Predators acquired their future franchise forward here, but at the price of the best defender in the entire league. Erik Johnson later developed into a franchise defenseman, but as Colton usually is, his impatience got the better of him as he swapped Johnson in a deal for Cam Fowler who he later traded for nothing substantial.
Weber signed a decade long agreement with a NTC to finish out his career in Philly. This trade was simply the cherry on top for what the Flyers have put together, and as far as Cup contenders go, with the addition of Shea Weber, the Flyers became quite possibly the only team that poses a legitimate a threat to knock the Washington Capitals off the throne.

I tried to diversify this list...I really did. But no team has so many deals that sent shock waves around the league as the Flyers.
But as far as blockbusters go, this is about as even as it can get. What makes this deal such a monstrous trade, though, was the return each team got on their return. The Flyers later turned Backstrom into Toews, and the Caps turned Giroux into Getzlaf.
It is no stretch to call Getzlaf and Toews the third and fourth best forwards in the entire league. How can a deal that indirectly caused a Getzlaf/Toews spot not get it's proper recognition. While this trade was not huge by itself, in context this was a ground shaking deal that both teams were able to build off of in a big way.

The final deal that cemented Philly's dominance over the DHL. Girardi continued to develop into one of the DHL's elite shutdown defenders, hitting 81 DF at a point. The Flyers then dealt Girardi to CHI in a package with Nick Backstrom to land them Jonathan Toews. Army also sent Staal to the other side of the state in exchange for Kris Letang. Ryan Callahan and Brian Boyle both proceeded to develope into two of the elite two way forwards in the DHL.
This deal not only provided the Flyers with a perennial Selke caliber winger, but it also indirectly brought him Jonathan Toews and Kris Letang. On the Richter Scale of sim league deals, this can be considered an 9.0 out of ten. A massive swap that had many implications on future deals around the league.

How can this deal not be #1? To be completely honest, I dont believe this trade was very much uneven. But what makes this trade so utterly incomprehensible that it skyrockets to the #1 spot on this list was what Pittsburgh did afterwards. Yes, I am referring to the completely boneheaded Oleksiak for Nash swap.
So in that context, the Penguins just traded the single best player in the league for Eric Staal and Jamie Oleksiak. No disrespect to either of the latter, but is that really a trade anybody else would jump on? There isnt much else to be said here. The trade simply speaks for itself.

With so many mentions of it, how could I forget the trade itself?
The Hawks acquired what they thought would be a premier shutdown defender in Girardi, but in what could not be foreseen, Girardi inexplicably regressed to a measly 76 DF following the trade.
Fortunately Elliott progressed pleasantly and turned into an above average PP QB. But the Toews/Backstrom swap was certainly a massive change up for both sides who were looking to make that one extra move to put them over the edge.

Quite possibly the one that started it all. This was the thread that was pulled that unraveled everything.
Skinner was used to acquire Weber. McBain was swapped to land Girardi, Callahan and Staal. Girardi was then swapped to land Toews. Staal was used to acquire Letang. And then there is Pronger who was used to acquire Oleksiak who was then dealt to land Rick Nash completing the context for the #1 ranked deal on our list.
This trade didnt shake much at the time...but even today, the effects of this trade are still being felt as Danny Briere is currently enjoying an MVP season in Montreal! This deal could have easily been placed in the top 5 since it got the ball rolling on literally everything...but in such an active league with such a trigger happy group of GMs, something had to give.
Thanks for reading. Those are just my opinions. If I offended anyone then you can go fuck yourself because I dont care! ;D

If I offended anyone then you can go fuck yourself because I dont care! ;D
