I decided to make some season predictions.
1st- Washington Capitals
Washington litterally has an army in defence. I would've kept Burns in D, 80 DEF would've helped him even more.
Green - Burns
Regehr - Karlsson
Orpik - Coburn
Who's going to score against them if they cant even shoot? The wall Washington built, while keeping Ovechkin, is extremely impressive. And if you go with Hedman trade, it's even more impressive.
Hedman - Burns
Regehr - Green
Orpik - Coburn
They also have a decent #1 goaltender in Anderson, I dont see them losing a lot, and by a lot. Thesituation basically stacked his team, everyone beware when playing him.
2nd- Philadelphia Flyers
Bringing in Bäckström and Skinner was very impressive. I like their chances alot. The defence will need to develop, but that will be done. Count them more of an offensive team. I'll be expecting the Eastern Conference finals to be Flyers vs Caps, and I wont lie, but it'll be a very exciting series, if it does happen. He brought in Carlson and EJ, but I still think his defence is what needs the most work. However, Thomas and Bryzgalov will help the defence ALOT. It's not near hard to contend with Philadelphia, but you have got to give credit to Army for his wonderful work so far as Flyers GM.
3rd- Carolina Hurricanes
Carolina is not near as impressive as Washington, but they will be a tough team to get by. The Skinner trade, I really didnt like it for Carolina, but I guess he's going to contend for now. Adding Parise was a really good move for his part, and look out for Clutterbuck injuring Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos etc. The Canes need to improve their defence a little bit, but thats needs that can be done in less than half a season. Again, watchout for the Canes this season!
4th- Toronto Maple Leafs
Think of me what you want, but Drew did a great job with the Leafs. Expect Volchenkov, Schenn, Komisarek and Phaneuf being extremely hard to go by, and the adding of Zajac, Clowe and Simmonds really helped his team. Reimer is already starter-ready, and is still going to develop. Kessel isn't the kind of forward to go to if you're looking for one of the best, but he's only 24, and he'll develop into a monster. The Leafs need to work on their offense, but thats easy to do. Beware, fellow GM's, the Leafs will be really hard to defeat.
5th- Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks' GM didn't change his team alot, but the Canucks start competitive, and he added respectably Byfuglien and Ladd, while keeping Kesler, the Sedins,
Erhoff etc. The trading of Luongo really worked for the best, as Schneider is ready to become even better than Luongo. The biggest need for the Canucks right now, is defence. It's not a big need, but it is a need. Edler and Byfuglien just won't do the job alone.
6th- Los Angeles Kings
The Kings became much more competitive with the adding of Mike Richards in real life, but dbaby did touch the team. He added respectably Giordano, Sarich and Jagr. Sarich is a great shut-down defenseman, and same for Giordano, but Giordano is a great two-way defenseman. Quick is a really good reliable goaltender, so the goalies will not be a need. The Kings now need to add some better wingers, while keeping Brown.
7th- Pittsburgh Penguins
Believe me, I know what I'm saying. I'm in a league where the Pens are really great contenders, and their GM did not touch them at all. The offense is stacked, Neal, Staal, Crosby, Malkin etc. And now the defence. Kyaku added Schultz who becomes a franchise D, he added Smid with 77 DEF at 25, he added Methot with 76 DEF at 26, and added Stralman, who's a really good two-way defenseman, at 25. The up-and-coming D in Despres and Morrow are really promising, too. The biggest need for Pittsburgh now is defence, however.
8th- Dallas Stars
Nucker didn't make one simple trade, but Fistric is 78 DEF at 25, Grossman is 77 DEF at 26 and Robidas is 80 DEF. Eriksson is a great forward with 81 OFF at 26, etc etc. The Stars will need to work on their defence anyway, and then go to work on their forwards. It's really not easy putting them at 8th place because they don't have a GM that makes any trades in this league though.
9th- Tampa Bay Lightning
The adding to Myers to the team is really impressive, but trading away Stamkos was disgusting. St-Louis, Gagné and Zetterberg will have to do for offense. If the trade with Hedman is processed, well the defence will need MAJOR adjustments, as Karlsson is a offensive-minded D, and that does not help the defence. But honestly, I don't think the trade will go through, so I won't talk much about it. The Lightning now need to focus on adding offense to the team.
10th- Boston Bruins
The team will have to develop first, but don't get me wrong, I could've easily put them up 3-4 spots. The defence is currently not reliable, but they will develop hopefully. Lucic develops into a monster, the adding of Hartnell was sweet, he kept Horton, Chara, etc. I highly believe that regardless how good they may look now, they will still finish 10th. The defence needs work, and I would try not to touch the offense at all.
11th- Chicago Blackhawks
Keith and Seabrook are two good defensemen, but the rest... The defence is the main thing to work on for Chicago. The offense is good, will always be good if InstantRockstar thinks the same way as I do. I don't have much to say, the team has always been good. The main visible hole is the defence, which will eventually be filled.
12th- Detroit Red Wings
Where's the defence? Lidstrom and Stuart? They will let the opposing teams shoot enough, but the offense is pretty decent. Adding of Alfredsson is good, but let's just say he's getting old. Their centers are good, the team needs to help the wingers. Main hole I see is defence. But, expect a good team built out of Detroit, who started good.
13th- San Jose Sharks
The D of this team is good, but not AWESOME. Vlasic will develop, the offense is great, goalies are good. They'll be good, but not the best. I would work mostly on getting younger shut-down D. Wallin, Gonchar and Boyle aren't going to play another 10 seasons, and with such a good offense (not the best, obviously) I would go with shut-down D, rather than offensive D.
14th- St Louis Blues
Patrickroy99 did not do a lot of changes to his team, but bringing in Seidenberg to help his defence (until Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk are developed) will certainly help. Honestly, the team did a great job in real life, but the reason why I'm not predicting the Blues higher, is because they will need to develop first. Mainly, the Blues need to work on their defence. Obviously while keeping Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo. Plus the re-rate on Shattenkirk's potential... That will help alot. But don't expect them to be Stanley Cup contenders this season, unless their GM makes a great move.
15th- Calgary Flames
Honestly, I don't see them contending. I don't see them as high Stanley Cup contenders. Don't waste your money predicting on them winning this season. But they will be pretty decent, Savard and Booth added was a pretty good move of Backtrack's part, but the trading of Bouwmeester was not the best move... The defence will have to be worked on, but thats pretty easily done.
16th- Buffalo Sabres
If Buffalo is able to improve his D without touching Stamkos, I would have no problem with putting them higher. But seriously, bringing in Stamkos is good, but losing your only #1 goaltender AND franchise defenseman, is terrible. What needs to be worked on mostly, is the goaltenders and D. But not to always talk about the negatives, his offense is decent. However, relying on only one player to score all your goals isn't the way to go.
17th- Nashville Predators
The Preds have alot of players that will have to develop. Weber and Suter are two good defensemen to start with, but two just won't do. Radulov will develop, he usually becomes a franchise forward, or at least a very good forward. But having to develop him is not an easy task to do. Rinne and Lindback are two great goalies. The Preds would mostly need better wingers, and some more shut-down D.
18th- Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks have a great roster to start with. But I don't like their chances. They should work on their D, add some better defensemen. The forwards in Ryan, Getzlaf and Perry is also very great. But they need more depth.
19th- Montreal Canadiens
The Habs have a good roster, but will they really do that great? I don't believe so. They need to work on their forwards, add in a franchise forward.
20th- Phoenix Coyotes
I think they'll have a decent start, but will have a... not-so-good end. Their roster is not the best, I can only wonder how they can do it to the top 15. But, I'll say they need to work on their D, and, their goaltenders. There is a big need for a better goaltender, but if you have the best D, you dont need the best goaltender.
21st- Florida Panthers
They have a pretty good roster, but I don't think they'll be the best team ever seen. Mostly if Kulikov develops well, otherwise, well... The team needs better D and better forwards, but what they have is not extremely bad
22nd- Winnipeg Jets
They traded Byfuglien but got a franchise goaltender in Luongo. They still have plenty young talent. They need to work on their offense a little though.
23rd- Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets have Mason and Nash. They traded Carter and I wouldn't have done that deal. Their D isn't the best, but they aren't the worse team. They need to work on their D.
24th- Minnesota Wild
The trading of Havlat wasn't the first move I would've done. Especially since I dont see a lot of players the Wild got back, but it's all ok. They need to work on their D, as they traded Burns.
25th- New York Rangers
They currently have no GM, they need more depth, they need to develop MDZ and Staal. What they need, is better forwards to play with Gaborik.
26th- New Jersey Devils
The trading of Parise wasn't the best move, but they got Cowen who becomes a franchise D, and Havlat to replace Parise. The adding of Kulemin also was a very good move, but it won't be enough. The D needs work, they need more depth, but when you look at all the up-and-coming players in Merrill, Colborne, Lashoff, Josefson, Larsson and Cowen, it's mostly a future team. The Devils need to develop their D, then work on their offense.
27th- Edmonton Oilers
It's a tough call, but the Oilers better develop Pavelec well, otherwise they'll need a #1 goalie. A better one, that is. Hall, Eberle and RNH will need to develop. Musil too, same for Klefbom. If Musil and Klefbom develops into great d-men, then the Oilers better build their D around these two.
28th- Ottawa Senators
Sensfan is rebuilding his team, don't expect him to be in the high standings. But its a good rebuild, don't feel insulted.
29th- New York Islanders
All his players are basically untouchable. Tavares, I have no problem with him being untouchable. But how does the Isles GM expect getting some better players? Defence needs work, better develop Tavares into the 90+ OFF forward he has the potential to become.
30th- Colorado Avalanche
Sorry, but trading Erik Johnson and Kyle Quincey is not the way to go. The Avs have no good defensemen anymore, don't expect to have a really hard time defeating them. I don't want to insult the GM, but I'll suggest keeping your 1st.
1st- Washington Capitals
Washington litterally has an army in defence. I would've kept Burns in D, 80 DEF would've helped him even more.
