As the Avalanche embark on a season of competition and fighting, GM Dalfan looks to the future of the Avs. This future is very bright, with rookies frontiering the first line, and the other lines as well.
Right now, the lineup is mixed between rookies and Veterans. The Veterans guiding the rookies and helping them develop. Here is all the rookies and veterans, respectively.

Some of the Veterans may be looking to retire, or perhaps will simply not be on the team a few years down the road. They will be needing a replacement, either via free agency or the draft/prospect pool. Colorado boasts a large variety and quantity of prospects, with players on the verge of spouting up and making it to the NHL. GM Dalfan has taken a look at some of the these prospects, and how they will be fitting into the future on the Colorado Avalanche.
A peek into the future of a Franchise
Quote:
Starting with on of our finest prospects, Mikhail Grigorenko. Drafted in the 1st round, 4th overall
Grigorenko is a star stick handler, and should very easily be an NHL all-star soon down the road. I expect a lot from our fourth overall pick, and should be in the Avalanche organization as soon as next year. When he does join the ranks of the Avalanche, he should be playing on the first line, next to Landeskog and Duchene.
Quote:
Another fine prospect, Reggie Smyth. Drafted in the second round, 34th overall
Reggie is currently playing on the Avalanche, and has been performing quite well. Placed on the second line next to grit player, Brad Marchand and rookie Tyler Biggs, he has effectively put up 10 points in 18 games, matching star centerman, Brad Marchand. And he's only getting better. He is arguably just as good as Mikhail Grigorenko, and he was drafted in the second round. More to come from Reggie Smyth as he only develops more.
Quote:
Centerman, Matia Marcantuoni. Drafted in the 1st round, 27th overall
Marcantuoni was sticking out in the draft like crazy. Just begging to be picked. It's proven to be one of the good picks, and we hope to see him develop swiftly. If all goes according to plan, he will join the Lake Erie Monsters in the 2013 season. If he performs there, he will join the Avalanche on the 4th line.
Quote:
Right Winger, Evzen Albrecht. Drafted in the second round 32nd overall
Albrecht was our first pick in the second round, and could have easily gone in the first. I have undergone deep scouting on him, and he is proven to become an offensive mastermind, with incredible stick handling abilities. He isn't the best two player, but with good coaching he can develop. Albecht will follow a close path with Matia Marcantuoni, and with time, will play together on the Avalanche 4th line.
Quote:
Right Winger, Danny Ehrdhart. Drafted in the second round 33rd overall
Due to some last minute trading, Colorado held three consecutive 2nd round picks. Ehrdhart, being on of them. Ehrdhart will hopefully develop into the player that the Avalanche will need, but it may take time. Ehrdart, along with Matia and Evzen, will join the AHL Lake Erie Monsters, and then may be called up for the Avalanche's fourth line. There are still many variables, and free agency or trading may force Danny to play a little bit longer in the AHL than he wants.
And to finish off the overview of Avalanche Prospects, here is the line-up for the future Colorado Avalanche.
