All UFAs and RFAs who do not qualify as a "minor leaguer" in other words >=70OV as well as ALL RE-SIGNINGS are represented by a Player Agent.
Each GM can PM a maximum of one opening offer for any given free agent. You can send another PM to upgrade if you want (add more years/money/clauses).
Each free agent will decide to at the discretion of the Player Agent. When a free agent decides that he's ready to sign, the Player Agent will contact the few teams with which he is interested in signing with final instructions: either an acceptance or a notice that they will have to modify their offer.
INSTRUCTIONS:
View the list of free agents. If there is one that you like, then:
Send a private message of correspondence to the appropriate player agent account.
The private message must have the player’s full name as the title.
The private message must have the player’s full name in the body.
The private message must specify the offer by years, salary per year and clauses.
Example of offer format.
Include with your offer a write-up which explains to the Player Agent why you believe your organization requires his client's services. Include matters such as: what role he will play on your team, average ice time he should expect to receive, and even an explanation of what conditions he should meet to be re-signed. (ex. "He is a franchise player for us. He will get top line minutes and is being paid on par with other league superstars"). Be creative with your explanations; the Player Agent will treat each player as if they are a real person with human desires.
The Player Agent will consider all offers.
Do not address the offer to the player, you are addressing the Player Agent who is acting on behalf of the player.
Forget what you know about the EHM asking price engine:
The players will now take reasonable offers if they must. Backup goalies will not ask for $4,000,000. Offer $750,000 to a backup goalie and you might just get him.
- PA's will use contracts signed by similar players as "landmarks"
- PA's will remember your "promises" to players. If you break these you reputation will be negatively effected.
- Offering a player a clause such as NMC will increase his chances of signing
- EG: A retiring FA will lean towards a playoff team opposed to a bottom dweller, so he may sign for cheaper
- Use anything to your advantage - If you are making an offer to Pavol Demitra and you currently have Marian Gaborik, you can use playing with a fellow countrymen as a argument.
- All player's are different, some want money and some want to win
- Don't go over the top - bottom 6 players don't expect you to promise them top icetime
